​Capitol Security & Lock is a locally owned business that has been serving the Richmond area for 20+ years!  We service residential, commercial, industrial and facility maintenance providers. 


​Capitol Security & Lock is a full service locksmith to include, but not limited to, safes, locks, keys, exit devices and mechanical and electronic access control.  We service the Commonwealth of Virginia.  Capitol Security & Lock is DCJS licensed and all of our technicians are registered. 

​Here at Capitol Security & Lock we want to make sure that not only do we provide you with excellent customer service by knowledgeable technicians, we also want to make sure we are on the same page.


​Capitol Security & Lock will provide you security solutions that are custom to your situation.  We may not always have the parts that are needed and more than one trip may be required. All of our staff here at Capitol Security & Lock are DCJS registered in the field they work in and always have their registration card on them.  All you need to do is ask to see their registration and they will provide it for you.  We are fully licensed and insured in the state of Virginia.


​We are based in Henrico County and our Service Call fee is for a 20 mile radius from our location.  We do service the whole state of Virginia but there are additional charges when out of the 20 mile radius.


​Since we do provide custom solutions there will be a 50% deposit required on special orders including safes that are not in stock.  If we do special order product and you choose not to purchase it, there will be a 25% restocking fee. All products that are purchased from us, we will honor the manufacture's warranty. If your product malfunctions we will switch it out for a new one but there will be labor charges.  If you choose to purchase the product elsewhere for us to install and it malfunctions there will be charges for us to remove it and will be the customers responsibility to go through the manufacture for replacement.


​We are a full security provider and can help you with mechanical locks, master key systems, monitored / unmonitored home security, access control, keyless entry, mortise locks, panic / exit bar, door closers, mag locks, cameras, high security keys and locks, restricted keyways, lockouts and safes.  We service residential and commercial clients.


We do NOT do automotive.


When we cut keys or pin locks we ask that you bring the item with you that we are fitting to.  We can make keys without these things present, (ie: key by code for filing cabinet and no way of getting cabinet here) but we can not guarantee them to work.  If we cut keys or pin your lock and it does not work please call our office and speak with one of our staff.  Each situation is unique and we will work with you on getting you the correct keys or refund, but once again each situation is different and there are some circumstances where we can not guarantee nor offer a refund.  Custom fitted keys is something we can do, but we need the lock present.


Since our business is helping keep you and your family safe, at times we do require some things that may be inconvenient for you the customer.  We do need you to provide documentation that says you are the owner, resident or authority to authorize work to be performed.  For most of our clients we simply need to see your drivers license to prove that you are you and live at the address.  In other circumstances we may need more.  Please call our office with any questions or concerns and our staff will be happy to let you know what is needed.


When you call in to place your service call we may ask a few questions pertaining to the work that needs to be performed.  Our most frequently asked questions can be answered from your key.  Please have that with you, if possible, when you call.


Please let our staff know everything that you would like us to do for your appointment while scheduling.  We need to make sure we schedule enough time for the tech to complete your work.  If you do have a "while you are here" we will try our best to fit it in during your appointment, but we may not always be able to accommodate.  In the event we are unable to do the additional work on site we can schedule for the tech to come out another time, but that will require opening a new ticket. 


Commercial Clients


​We do offer invoicing for your convenience.  Please call our office and speak with our staff on our requirements to open an account.  Our longest invoice term is a NET 30.


​You have 10 business days to dispute any charges on the invoice. After 10 business days you agree that you are satisfied with the work performed and the charges on the invoice are correct.


​You must be authorized for invoicing before our truck arrives or payment will be required once service has been rendered.


​We carry General Liability, Workman's Comp and Auto insurance.  If you require any additional coverage such as product or umbrella, riders, and/or large limits we need to have this completed before we begin work.  If the request is NOT made before the start of work, you the client, waive any and all requirements that were not agreed upon.  These requests will not be honored after work has been completed, and we will seek damages if necessary or if payment is withheld.


​Unfortunately due to recent events, we were forced to update our past due policies and procedures.  These changes will take effect January 1, 2014.  Any accounts going 60 days past due will incur a $20 re-invoicing fee that will be accessed each month that payment has not been received in full.  Including the re-invoicing fee, your account may be reverted to COD and/or we may require a pre-authorization on a credit card for the estimated amount of the services you are requesting, before we will send a truck one site.  If your account still has a balance after 180 days, we will file for a judgement.  When filed there will be additional fees to cover our expense in collecting the debt, and the $20 re-invoicing fee will continue to be assed each month.  As always we do understand that sometimes things happen, but you must communicate with us.  You can avoid penalties if you contact our office and make appropriate arrangements.  We will be happy to work with you on an agreement to fulfill your obligation.
